Pope says hell and damnation are real and eternal
NEWS.com.au
"...the Christian faith is not imposed on anyone, it is a gift, an offer to mankind". Ratzinger is living up to his name. First there were no swords involved in the spread of Christendom. Now there were no human bonfires. Burning people at the stake was a way of inducing them to accept the gift with no further ado, but still they must choose it themselves. The torture and slaughter of the Cathars, Albigenses, Templars, Witches and Jews didn't impose Christianity upon anyone. They just made sure no other offers were around to interfere. Hell seems to be a "risk" for lapsed Catholics, but as far as I know, it's a certainty for the rest of us, and lapsed Catholics better say so if they don't want to join us there.

Sweeping changes to global climate by 2100
Breitbart
If you tell Americans the world will be completely transformed by 2100 after hundreds of centuries of the evolution of human civilization within present conditions, they'll only think there's still a century before they'll be affected (i.e. just the grandkids' problem again).

"'It is going to be a huge mess,' said Rogers, who has put his $15 million belle epoque mansion on Manhattan's Upper West Side on the market and is planning to move to Asia."
How did that happen Mr Pig?

Winter warmest on record worldwide
Yahoo! Finance
Another superlative for the Bush era. Why it qualifies as financial news at Yahoo, however, is beyond me.

Pentagon says Iraq fighting is not quite a civil war
CNN
After working through the press to transform the occupation of Iraq into a humanitarian intervention in a civil war, the Pentagon lectures us about mischaracterizing military conflicts. The rumors of a trained Iraqi soldier, however, have been confirmed. Draft alert.

Global warming story hits critical mass

"...hundreds of millions of people will face water shortages, while tens of millions will be flooded out of their homes. So get out there and vote because Democrats have the vaguest illusion that we're ever leaving those oil fields to the Iraqis.

You cannot travel back in time say scientists
LiveScience
But you can send science back to the Middle Ages. Bush has gone a long way toward proving that evolution is just a theory. It's not a law, in any case, just a strong suggestion.

Record Mega Millions drawing held in Times Square
CNN
Another, but somewhat irrelevant, superlative for the Bush era. I'd stand on the corner with a bag open waiting for money to drop out of the sky, but I don't like the two hundred million to one odds.

What a real plane crash looks like. Note, first of all, unlike Shanksville, and the Pentagon, an airplane.
